Food, Inc.

I just finished watching Food, Inc., the documentary that examines how our food is mass produced and offers ways to make better choices. It's certainly shocking and depressing in parts as we see how terribly animals are treated and how e coli can caused by some of these practices kills people. It makes viewers see that the romantic notion of food coming from the pastoral red farm like the one Wilbur in Chralotte's Web inhabited has been replaced with food factories that cram as many animals into a dark space and pump them full of hormones to fatten them fast.

Yet the film is intelligent and offers hope. We see farmers and company owners who care about producing healthy choices and at they end subjects suggest that since consumers changed the tobacco industry, we can change the food industry.
